Lower Dolpo Trekking is an outstanding trek in the isolated area of west Nepal, where trek can also be done even in the mid monsoon as it lies in the rain shadow area formed by the Dhaulagiri & Annapurna ranges. The entire scenic trekking to Lower Dolpo covers typically hidden destination than the other trekking destination of Nepal. Its unique cultural diversity and remoteness of the Himalayas are the main features of this Lower Dolpo. It is also the safe shelter and during the winter for locals of around. From November to April upper region of Dolpo are almost covered by snow so the local inhabitants are temporarily migrated below and for being safe from the extreme cold.

Day 1 : Arrival at Kathmandu airport & transfer to hotel (1,300m).

Day 2 : Full day Kathmandu sightseeing & trek preparation.

Today, After morning breakfast you'll visit different historical and cultural sites of the Kathmandu valley with our professional guide. You will go for the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, the world biggest Boudhanath stupa and visit Swoyambhunath stupa also known as monkey temple. After exploring the surrounding areas visit historical Kathmandu Durbar square with the temple, unique architectures and kumari (living goddess).

Day 3 : Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj & transfer to hotel.

Today, We take an hour's flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj in western Nepal. Nepalgunj which is a border town near Nepal-India border is the gateway to Simkot of Humla. some sightseeing places in Nepalgunj include Mini zoo, Muslim bazaar or if possible and interested take a walk into nearby villages.

Day 4 : Fly from Nepalgunj to Jhupal [2,320m] and trek to Dunai [2,850m], 2-3 hours walk.

Today, After an early breakfast, we take a morning flight to Jhupa. The 45 minutes flight over the high mountains brings you at Jhupal over the Himalayan foothills, with views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks to the north. On arriving at Jhupal our trekking staffs will receive you. Our first-day adventure begins through the terraced fields to the Bheri river and the narrow gorge taking 2-3 hours to camp at Dunai.Explore Dunai in the evening.

Day 5 : Trek to Tarakot [2,543m], 5-6 hours walk.

Today, After breakfast we start our trek continues along the south bank of the river heading upstream on a good trail. Deep gorges, hanging bridge and isolated villages. A tremendous gorge with pine trees and an ingenious path built by the local people as Dzong or fort. The village stands on a hillock to the south of Bheri river at one time supervised collection of tolls for the trading caravans.

Day 6 : Trek to Laini [3,160m], 6-7 hours walk.

Today, After breakfast, we continue our walk to follow the Tarap chu river upstream, crossing by the bridge and crossing the same river twice. The farmed Sandul Gompa lies farther east from Tarakot and at the junction of Barbung Khola and Tarup chu river. The path leads through the farm terraces and rural villages. After few ups and downs finally described to reach our overnight camp at Laini.

Day 7 : Trek to Nawarpani [3,545m] 5 hours walk.

Today, After breakfast, we continue walking up to the gorge of the Tarap river, rising high above on a trail built out from steep slopes. The walk is quite excting as the valley becomes narrow gorge that in some places you can jump from one side to another. Descend to Chyugur Khola. Sometimes the path vanishes for a while, making our own path across stone slabs fitted on logs in between the walls which act as a bridge. Overnight at Guesthouse with BLD Basis.

Day 8 : Trek to Da Tarap [4,090m]

Today, Our morning walk begins after breakfast with a gradual up leading us at Kamattarka at the confluence of the Tarap Chu and Lang Khola, a stream flowing from the east. After few hours of good morning walk leaving the narrow gorge, from here the path leads just above tree lines for juniper bush and wild rose, typical of dry inner Himalayan valleys. Another 3 hours or more walk brings us to the village of Dho Tarap surrounded by an irregular stone wall. In this valley both Bon po and Chaiba sects reside together.

Day 9 : Rest day at Do Tarap for acclimatization.

We spend a rest day in Do Tarap for gradually getting used to the altitude. Time to visit monasteries and enjoy the breathtaking views. Make friends with the locals who have hardly seen westerners. The Dolpo people wear home spun clothing that is sometimes dyed maroon and they favor Tibetan style somba or dhocha (boots with upturned toes) for foot wear. Both men and women often wear religious amulets and strings of coral, amber, and turquoise. The people of the region are both Bon po and Nyingmapa of Buddhist sect. The Buddhist Gompa is nearby to the camp while the Bon Gompa (pre-Buddhist) is about half an hour's walk.

Day 10 : Trek to Numa La Base Camp [4,440m],6-7 hours walk.

Today, After a wonderful time at Do Tarap, Our journey continues towards upper Tarap valley, the walk follows in this plain Valley with patches of lush verdant grass on both sides of the river, which is completely different from other parts of inner Dolpo. The trek on this pleasant track leads by the Tarap chu upstream all the way. Tarap is certainly a dream valley with vast plains in high mountain. A few hour's good walk takes us to the village of Tokyu, It has a monastery belonging to the Chiba sect. After visit this village, our walk continues further up this valley climbing up the rough track for almost another three hours to reach our overnight camp beneath the Numa-La .Overnight at Guesthouse with BLD Basis.

Day 11 : Cross Numa La [5,190m] and camp at Pelung Tang [4,465m] 6-7 hours walk.

This is one of the long and difficult days during the trek. After breakfast our journey continues to crossing of Numa La pass at 5,190m, the track leads to steep climb all the way to the top ridge of Numa la with great views of the surrounding landscapes. An incredible panoramic view of the barren mountains of Dolpo up to the Dhaulagiri (8167m). After getting to the top of Numa La we will descend to camp at Pelung Tang.

Day 12 : Cross Baga La [5,070m] and camp Dajok Tang [4,080m], 6 hours.

Today, After breakfast our morning trek starts with a steep climb to reach the ridge top of Baga-la at 5,070m, which offers fantastic views of the surrounding landscapes and of the distant snow capped peaks of Kanjirowa himal range, after a glorious moment at the pass, almost three hours of downhill walk takes to the Dajok Tang foe.

Day 13 : Trek to Ringmo (3,600m), 3-4 hours walk.

After breakfast, our morning trek starts through the pine forest, on leaving the forest behind the country and the vegetation changes for pasture field and alpine shrubs most of the way to Ringmo on the gradual slopes with few ups and downs as we reach our final destination at Ringmo.

Day 14 : Rest day at Ringmo for a hike to Phoksundo lake.

Today, A rest and exploration day, and of course we sit right on the shore of the spectacular Phoksundo lake; remember the harrowing scene in 'Himalaya' when Thinley's yak caravan attempted the 'devil trail'. Yak caravans will be heading in and out or Ringmo on their way north towards the border of Tibet, and our most nearby Tibetan Buddhist monastery is well worth a visit, as is the village of Ringmo. A walk part way round the lake is also very enjoyable and relaxing. This is a great day exploring the lake areas and the crystal serene lake of Phoksundo with great views.

Day 15 : Trek to Shyanta [2,520m], 5-6 hours walk.

Today, We trek downhill to Chepka. From Chepka the trail follows the massive overhanging rock. We found many important medicinal mineral which is believed to cure almost anything in this area. The route then passes through the villages, before climbing to Shyanta.

Day 16 : Trek to Jhupal.

Following the trail gently sloping upwards, we march towards Jhupal via sulighat. We meet tail birch trees on our way. From a top the ridge, we can have the most spectacular views of the mountain and Jhupal below. Utmost caution is required while trekking along this trail. After reaching Jhupal, we can spend our afternoon exploring the busy market town or simply pursuing whatever we feel like.

Day 17 : Fly to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj.

We take a flight from Jhupal to Nepalgunj. On reaching Nepalgunj, We return to Kathamndu on the next available flight. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. You can spend the evening leisurely, perhaps catch up on sand come last minute shopping and celebrate dinner together with Himalayan Excursion Nepal's staffs.

Day 18 : Transfer to Airport for final departure.

Today, our company representative will drop you to the Kathmandu airport for your final departure for your home country or onward  destination.

lower Dolpo trek is suitable for any kind of person who is moderately fit, no previous experience is required. To  condition yourself for the trek, some physical fitness programs such as walking, running, swimming and hiking are recommended before you embark on your journey. Any person suffering from a pre-existing medical condition or diseases must seek medical advice before considering any trek.
Yes, our company representative will be there to greet you. He will be displaying Himalayan  Excursion Nepal sign board outside the airpot terminal. You will be transferred to your hotel by our private vehicle.
Best season for trekking is usally March-April and October-November but
Lower Dolpo trek can be done in February,June,April,May and December as well.
Weather in the mountains is very difficult to predict.At night it is generally cold and the days are generally warm.The temperature could be as high as 20 degree celsius to -15 degree celsius low.
During trek guesthouse does not facilitate with heater or air conditioner,But they have facility of hitting the dinning area by providing kerosene or metal heater. USD 2 to USD 5 per person would be applicable to use this service and this is payable directly to the guesthouse. 
Depending on nature of travel we provide different vehicle service.we provide tourist vehicles for sightseeing, city tours and airport pickups-drops. We book flight ticket through Tara Air and Nepal Airlines air for the flight from Kathmandu-Nepalgunj-Jhupal and vice versa.
There are landline telephone in some village along the trekking routes from which you can contact with your family and friends. some place there is also internet access which you can use by paying some charges.Also you can buy sim card for your cell phone by giving your xerox copy of your passport and PP size photo.
In the cities, off course yes but once you are outside of the cities, all you have to pay in cash. Also you have exchange the currency in Nepali rupees before you go outside the cities.
Generally, in kathmandu and Nepalgunj you can allocate USD 15-20 for lunch and dinner.During trekking USD 10 to 15 per person a day will be enough to buy bottles of water,chocolates,biscuits,pay for the hot shower and a few drinks.
 
Yes, charging facilities will be available in every guesthouse & lodges but sometime there maybe load shedding problem so its better to bring power bank or spare batteries.
There are many restaurant available in Kathmandu and Nepalgunj city where you can find any delight of your choice. But in trekking route most teahouses.On the menu you may find noodles soup,steam mo:mo,daal bhat, green salad, finger chips,eggs,potatoes, fresh vegetables. You can get tea,coffee,hot lemon,hot chocolate. Every day breakfast, lunch , dinner will be at a lodge.
Along your trek we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides,porters,accomodation and food.Please consult with your guide and he will update our office in Kathmandu and we can make the arrangments accordingly.

If you are in private or solo trip it would be possible as your itinerary is very flexible where as if you were in group then this group the option would be limited so please make sure you discuss with your group and guide and your guide will update us accordingly.
 
Lodges mostly serve the vegetarian meals so there is no problem at all for vegetarian. Also we always recommend our clients to eat vegetarian meals to avoid food poisoning. Non-veg meals at the high altitude is not safe for the stomach.
Hot water in bucket will be provided for shower and you have to pay for hot water.
 
 
Yes, they have received training from NATHM (Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management).They have also received high altitude first aid training from KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project).
Actually tipping is not compulsory, but small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters.The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvment with your guide.
