Tsum Valley was a restricted area until it was opened for trekking in 2008 and there is a little information available on the area.The Tsum valley is a sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley situated in northern Gorkha, Nepal. Literally "Tsum" means vivid. Against the majestic backdrop of the Ganesh Himal and Sringi himal, and Boudha ranges, this serene Himalayan valleys is rich in ancient art, culture, and religion. The local people are mostly of Tibetan origin & speak their own dialect.The altitude of Tsum valley Trekking varies from 1905m in Lhokpa to over 5093m at Ngula Dhojhyang pass on the Tibetan border. The hidden valley is surrounded by the Boudha Himal and Himal chili to the west, Ganesh Himal to the south & Sringi himal to North.
 
Tsum Valley Trekking trials are strewn with artistic shortens and lined with Mani walls made of thousand's of stone slabs carved with drawings of deities and inscribed with prayers. The famous Kyimo Lung, a pilgrimage circuit in the central Trans-Himalaya is a well-known seat of learning and seat of mediation. The circuit traverses across Tsum valley, Manaslu area in Nepal and southern parts of Tibet.

Day 1 : Arrival at Kathmandu airport & transfer to hotel (1,300m).

Day 2 : Full day Kathmandu sightseeing & trek preparation.

Today, After morning breakfast you'll visit different historical and cultural sites of the Kathmandu valley with our professional guide. You will go for the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, the world biggest Boudhanath stupa and visit Swoyambhunath stupa also known as monkey temple. After exploring the surrounding areas visit hitorical Kathmandu Durbar square with temple, unique architectures and kumari (living goddess).

Day 3 : From Kathmandu drive to Arughat Bazaar (535m), 8-9 hours.

Today, After morning breakfast our guide will pickup you and from there you will have an 8 hours driving journey to Arughat. From Kathmandu to Dhading Bensi for 3-4 hours is comfortable drive but from there to Arughat for another 4 hours we will be driving on dirt road.

Day 4 : Trek to Soti Khola (775m) 5-6 hours.

Today, we follow the Budhi Gandaki river toward its point of origin. We pass the village of Morder and simre to reach Arkhat river. After Arkhat we ascend slowly towards Kyoropani. Camp today nears the confluence of Seti river- an ideal place to take a fresh water bath.

Day 5 : Trek to Machha Khola (900m) 4-5 hours.

Today, After breakfast the trail descends slowly until you climb again to mountain ridge to Almara. Pass the forest trail to arrive at Riden Gaon. The valley here cuts into another side of the river to enter Budhi Gandaki. At Lambesi, the trail follows down to the sandy river bed of Budhi Gandaki. Camp tonight at Machha river.

Day 6 : Trek to Jagat (1,340m) 6 hours.

Today, Our journey starts after breakfast along the river, by tobacco and buckwheat fields, past rocks washed smooth by the river, often climbing up stone steps, to reach the hot springs in the centre of the small, terraced village of Tatopani (hot spring). A gentle climb through the forest and spectacular waterfalls, across suspension bridge and through a short section of forest path and we reach Dobhan and climb high on stone steps below.

Day 7 : Trek to Philim (1,570m) 5-6 hours.

Today is enjoyable short day trekking, the long series stone steps trail descending to the river, then climb on wonderful stone steps along a terraced hill-side to the small hamlet of Saguleri with impressive Shringi Himal (7,187m). The trail splits with the right-hand branch heading off towards the Ganesh himal nearby high suspension bridge at Gata Khola. Our route continues upstream, and again we have a steep climb to reach Philim. We arrive at our green campsite in time for lunch, and have the afternoon explore the interesting upper village and gompa.

Day 8 : Trek to Chumling (Lower Tsum) 2,361m, 6-7 hours.

We take the trail up through Philim and head up over a ridge that leads to Ganesh himal base camp and Chumling (Lower Tsum). We camp for the night at Chumling. There are several good campsites at Chmling.

Day 9 : Trek to Chhokangparo (Upper Tsum) (3,010m).

From Chmling we trek to Chhokangparo. Upper Tsum valley (Part of the Inner Himalaya) open from Chhokangparo.  Chhekamparo is a village situated on flat land amd made up of two settlements Chhekam and Paro. From the valley, the Ganesh Himal range can be seen directly to the south where it provides spectacular views of the Baudha and himal chuli peaks to the south-west. Some houselands in this village practice polyandry.

Day 10 : Trek to Nile/Chhule, visit Milarepa Piren Phu Cave on the way (3,361m), 6-7 hours.

From Chhokangparo we trek to Nile/Chulle. This is the last village heading north in the upper Tsum valley. Nile is on the western, sun-side of the Shiar Khola, about 20 minutes walk across from chhule. On the way we pass the Piren Phu cave. Piren Phu (Pigeon cave) is one of the most sacred caves in the Tsum valley. It is located at the foot of a rugged cliff near the village of Burji. Milarepa, the famous Tibetan saint,was believed to have mediated here. Thete are two seprate gumbas attached to the rocky cave. Richly painted Buddhist murals, excellent artistic scripts carved on stones, long prayer flags and significant Buddhists paper scripts make this cave one of the most important socio-cultural asset in the valley. Beautiful views can be had of the Shiar Khola, Rachen Gumba, the mountain and settlement amidst vast agricultural land.

Day 11 : Trek to Mu Gompa (3,700m), visit Dhephyudonma Gompa (4,060m), 4 hours.

Today, From Nile the trail gradually ascends to Mu gumba, the largest monastery in the region. Mu Gumba is located at the highest and farthest point in the Tsum valley. Mu Gumba was established in 1895 AD and is situated at an altitude of 3510m. The monastery houses religious books, including Kangyur, a life sized statue of Avalokiteshvara, and images of Guru Padmasambhava and Tara. Dephyudonma Gumba is one of the oldest monasteries in the Tsum valley and is situated in the rugged mountains, two hours walk from the village of Chhule and Nile. The history of this monastery is directly associated with the dawn of Buddhism in the valley. The monastery is run by Lama Serap of Nile Ladrang from the Kangin sect. There are a few campsites and drinking water facilities.

Day 12 : Extra day for excursion, Rest day.

Today, We take a hike up Mu Gumba and reach the base of Pika Himal (4,865m). We are quite close to Tibet and get a good view of the Tibetan peaks as well as the Ganesh himal range. After the day's excursion we return to our camp at Mu gumba.

Day 13 : Trek to Rachen Gompa (3,240m), visit Gonhgye Gompa (Nyigma-pa Buddhist sect), 5 hours.

From Mu Gumba we take the trail to Rachen Gumba, a nunnery. The nunnery is situated in the Shiar Khola valley in the foothills of the mountains bordering Nepal and Tibet. Rachen Gumba has established in the year 1905 AD and is one of the largest nunneries in the Tsum valley. It houses nuns belonging to the Ngak-pa sect, which does not allow animal slaughter. The nunnery houses one thousand caly, moulded statues of Avalokiteshwara, a brightly colored,carved throne and pillar, and a large prayer wheel. The interior is richly painted with murals about Buddhism and its history.

Day 14 : Trek to Dumje (2,440m), 5-6 hours.

From Rachen Gompa we proceed towards Dumje, a small village with about eight houses and adjoining cattle shed.

Day 16 : Trek to ripchet (2,468m), 5-6 hours.

Today, Its easy day you will walk most of descend walking down to Ripchet.

Day 17 : Trek to Dobhan (1,070m), 5-6 hours.

After breakfast, you will walk 5 hours down walking to Dobhan. You will walk down more than 1200 meter today.

Day 18 : Trek ot Soti Khola (720m), 5-6 hours.

Follow the Budhi Gandaki River toward its point of origin. We pass  the village of Morder and Simre to reach soti Khola. After Kyoropani we ascend slowly toward Soti Khola.

Day 20 : Arughat drive bus to Kathamndu.

Tsum Valley Trek is suitable for any kind of person who is moderately fit, no previous experience is required. To  condition, yourself for the trek, some physical fitness programs such as walking, running, swimming and hiking are recommended before you embark on your journey. Any person suffering from a pre-existing medical condition or diseases must seek medical advice before considering any trek.
Yes, our company representative will be there to greet you. He will be displaying Himalayan  Excursion Nepal sign board outside the airpot terminal. You will be transferred to your hotel by our private vehicle.
Best season for trekking is usally March-April and October-November but Tsum Valley Trek can be done in February,June,April,May and December as well.
Weather in the mountains is very difficult to predict.At night it is generally cold and the days are generally warm.The temperature could be as high as 25 degree celsius to -20 degree celsius low.
 
During trek guesthouse does not facilitate with heater or air conditioner,But they have facility of hitting the dinning area by providing kerosene or metal heater. USD 2 to USD 5 per person would be applicable to use this service and this is payable directly to the guesthouse. 
Depending on nature of travel we provide different vehicle service.we provide tourist vehicles for sightseeing, city tours and airport pickups-drops. The transfer from Kathmandu to Arughat  will be by public bus as there is no facility  of any tourist bus in this route.How ever we can arrange private vehicle if needed. 
 
There are landline telephone in some village along the trekking routes from which you can contact with your family and friends. some place there is also internet access which you can use by paying some charges.Also you can buy sim card for your cell phone by giving your xerox copy of your passport and PP size photo.
In the cities, off course yes but once you are outside of the cities, all you have to pay in cash. Also you have exchange the currency in Nepali rupees before you go outside the cities.
Generally, in kathmandu you can allocate USD 15-20 for lunch and dinner.During trekking USD 10 to 15 per person a day will be enough to buy bottles of water,chocolates,biscuits,pay for the hot shower and a few drinks.
 
Yes, charging facilities will be available in every guesthouse & lodges but sometime there maybe load shedding problem so its better to bring power bank or spare batteries.
There are many restaurant available in Kathmandu city where you can find any delight of your choice. But in trekking route most teahouses.On the menu you may find noodles soup,steam mo:mo,daal bhat, green salad, finger chips,eggs,potatoes, fresh vegetables. You can get tea,coffee,hot lemon,hot chocolate. Every day breakfast, lunch , dinner will be at a lodge.
Along your trek we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides,porters,accomodation and food.Please consult with your guide and he will update our office in Kathmandu and we can make the arrangments accordingly.
 
If you are in private or solo trip it would be possible as your itinerary is very flexible where as if you were in group then this group the option would be limited so please make sure you discuss with your group and guide and your guide will update us accordingly.
 
Lodges mostly serve the vegetarian meals so there is no problem at all for vegetarian. Also we always recommend our clients to eat vegetarian meals to avoid food poisoning. Non-veg meals at the high altitude is not safe for the stomach.
Hot water in bucket will be provided for shower and you have to pay for hot water.
Yes, they have received training from NATHM (Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management).They have also received high altitude first aid training from KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project).
 
Actually tipping is not compulsory, but small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters.The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvment with your guide.
