Everest Base Camp via Jiri Trek

Everest Base Camp trekking via Jiri is one of the most remarkable and historic trekking route of the Everest region, offers an opportunity to experience eye-catching topography of Khumbu valley. The trekking route was became well known itself when Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary got succeed to summit on Everest expedition in May, 1953 which is very first time in history. 

 

Trekking starts after 7-8 hours scenic drive to Jiri which is 184 km east of Kathmandu valley. The trail follows impressive mountains views, verdant terraces, beautiful water falls as the trail crosses through numerous alluring Sherpa villages and spectacular landscapes covered by stunning rhododendron forest and miraculous mountain views welcomes when you arrive to the Everest region. This trek offers panoramic view of superb mountains peaks including major mountains Everest (8,848m), Cho Oyu (8,201m), Lhotse (8,516m) and other many ice-capped peaks snuggle in the Himalayas. Itinerary

After arrive in Kathmandu Tribbuwan airport our company representative will welcome you and transfer to related hotel. After time to get refreshed, evening we'll meet and transfer for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Kathmandu and briefing about your trip. Today, After breakfast you'll visit different historical and cultural sites in Kathmandu valley. You will go for the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, the world biggest Boudhanath stupa and visit Swoyambhunath stupa also known as monkey temple. After exploring the surrounding areas visit historical Kathmandu Durbar square with temple, unique architectures and kumari (living goddess). Evening pre-trip discussion and introduce with our fellow trekking staff for your adventure trip. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Today, Early in the morning we take bus to Jiri through Araniko highway. We cross the typical Newari villages of Dhulikhel and Banepa. After crossing these villages we can see the excellent panoramic views of the eastern Himalayas, including Ganesh himal, Langtang Lirung and Dorjee Lakpa. From Dolalghat we head north following the Sunkoshi river. We finally reach Jiri which is big town and also a hill station, explore the surrounding area. Jiri is also known as the Switzerland of Nepal. It is very beautiful place. From jiri we start hiking and head to Deurali. On the way we ascend and descend the hill passing through dense forest and beautiful villages. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, we walk uphill and downhill to reach Sete, a small village. We cross Likhu Khola (river) and follow it to Kenja and then we ascend to Chimbu. We continue climbing up to sete. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

An uphill climb to Lamjura La through forests of pine, magnolia, maple, birch and Rhododendrons. Pass by the village of Dagchu and Goyem. Lamjura La pass at 3,530 meters, the highest point between jiri and Namche Bazaar, offers a panoramic view of the surrounding green mountains. Descend down the pass to Tragdobuk and Junbesi. Spend the afternoon here exploring the village and the way of life to its inhabitants. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

The region around Junbesi is well exploring and a day spent here can offer a variety of alternatives. Two hours walk to the north of Junbesi is the village of Phugmochhe, where there is a traditional Sherpa art center. En-route to Phugmochhe a short diversion will allow a visit to Thubten Chhuling, a huge Tibetan Buddhist monastery about one and half hours walk from Junbesi or relax whole day exploring around with overnight in the Lodge. Cross the stream beyond Junbesi climb up the forest slope and after an hours trek, the breathtaking views of the Himalaya mountains appears before our eyes. The mountains that are visible include Everest, Lhotse, Nupte, Makalu, Thamseruku, Mera peak, and many other high mountains. This is the first view of Everest on this trek, although the lower peaks look closer and higher than the distance 8,000 meters. Continue the trail to Salung and descend to Ringmo Khola. Ascend to Ringmo, cross the Trakshindo La pass and descend to Trashingdo. After another hours descent through conifer and Rhododendron forests, and terraced fields, we finally arrive at Nuntala. Today, we continue climbing down to the Dudhkoshi river. Then we follow the Dudh Koshi river and walk up ward to Khumbu. Then we climb to Jubing. From there we walk straight and descend to cross a suspension bridge and finally ascend to Bupsa Danda. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, The trail from Bupsa rises through a forested stretch passing Kharte. From Kharte, an uphill climb takes us to Khari La pass. Enjoy the magnificent views of the Khari La pass of Gyachung Kang and Khumbila mountains among others. Descend to Puiyan and go through the ups and downs to Surkhe. Today, Our trail climbs toward Chaurikharka. Initial, the trek moves up to Chhiplung. Then the trail moves down to Phakding. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, The trail follows the Dudh Koshi river and reaches Zamphuti. From here we can see incredible views of Thamserku peak. Then the trail climbs to Chomoa, the site of an agricultural project, an interesting place to have a look around and gain an insight into the farming way of life of these people. From Chomoa, the trail again climbs to Monjo (2,840 m) and enters the Mt. Everest National park (1148 sq km, established in 1976). Walking some distance uphill you will be at Jorsale (2,830 m) the trail reaches the street of Namche Bazaar. Over at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, we will spend a day in Namche Bazaar resting and allowing our bodies to become acclimatized to the altitude of 3,440 meters. Guide always recommend us to stay active and moving during the rest day too instead of being idle. We either spend the day taking a day hike to Thame or visiting Khunde or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar itself. Our guides will take us to the Tourist visitor center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National park where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, sherpa culture and learn about the various plants and animals life of the Everest region. We also take an interesting side up to Khumjung. We climb up to the famous airstrip at Syangboche. Just above the airstrip is the Everest view hotel, a Japanese scheme to build a deluxe hotel with great views of the highest mountains on Earth. Today, we leave Namche bazaar and walk for some time along the ridge and descend to Dudh Koshi river at Phunkithanka. Then after crossing the bridge we ascend in the steep path up to the Tengboche. On reaching Tengboche you will see the beautiful Buddhist monastery. Tengboche have largest monastery of Khumbu region. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, from Tengboche the trail drops to Dingboche, crosses another exciting suspension bridge on the Imja Khola and climbs to Pangboche amongest thousands of Mani stones. Our uphill trek continues, taking us to the quaint traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche with its exquisite views of Lhotse, Island peak and Ama Dablam. We take our time so we avoid getting affected by the altitude. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, we will take rest before the last of the journey. We may have full day rest or there are some places where you can go for a day walk. We will have trip to Chhukung valley via the Imja Khola valley to get a marvelous view of the surrounding mountains, especially Lhotse massive south wall, then return to Dingboche in the evening. Today, The trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and passes by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. We continue to climb as we are heading to the altitude of 4,928 meters at Lobuche which is really just a few huts at the foot of giant Lobuche peak. Some breathing problems may arise today due to the altitude. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, After breakfast we continue our trek in a windy and rocky path with the wonderful view of Mt. Pumori, Mt. Nuptse and other magnificent peaks. After check in the guesthouse at Gorakshep we continue climb to the top of Kalapatthar. This small peak offers the best views of Mt. Everest, Pumori and Ama Dablam you can get without climbing. Stroll back to Gorekshep for overnight stay. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, This will be one of the most difficult yet rewarding days of the trek. In the morning we climb Mt. Kalapattar, a small peak. From Kalapattar we can see the magnificent views of Mt. Everest, the highest point on the planet at 8,848 meters, towers directly ahead and other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others. We make a quick descent to Gorakshep, a tiny hamlet at 5,180 meters then trek down to Pheriche. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, We will down through the hillside blanketed by beautiful Rhododendron and juniper trees. If it's spring, pink and red Rhododendron flowers ablaze our surroundings. Depending on our hunger and condition, we either have our lunch in Pangboche or wait until we reach Phunki Tenga for lunch. After crossing the prayer flag festooned bridge over the Dudhkoshi river trail then follows the Dudh Koshi gorge descending rapidly through the pine forests. The path eventually reaches sansa which is the major trail junction in the region. We stop at Kyangjumpa for a relaxed lunch. Following lunch, the trail to Namche Bazaar clings to the steep wooded slope beyond Kyangjuma, winding through several bends. After passing a Chorten, we reach the army camp at of Namche Bazaar. We want to take a long last look back to Lhotse, the tip of Everest and Tengboche from here. On reaching our lodge, we take a nice hot shower and have very relaxed sleep in our room in Namche Bazaar. Today, we return to Lukla where the trek began, which will seem like a lifetime ago. Enjoying time to reflect on the trek as a group and the personal achievement of all those who took part. Also giving you time to explore the town. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today at Early morning, Enjoying your last glimpse of the mountains you have recently visited for one last time on the 35 minute's scenic flight back to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu airport you will transfer to related hotel. You can take rest whole day in hotel. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Today, you'll be transferred to the international airport for your onward destination.

Jiri to Everest Base Camp trek is suitable for any kind of person who is moderately fit, no previous experience is required. To condition yourself for the trek, some physical fitness programs such as walking, running, swimming and hiking are recommended before you embark on your journey. Any person suffering from a pre-existing medical condition or diseases must seek medical advice before considering any trek.

Yes, our company representative will be there to greet you. He will be displaying your name outside the airport terminal. You will be transferred to your hotel by our private vehicle.

Best season for trekking is usually March-April and October-November but Jiri to Everest Base Camp trek can be done in February, June, April, May and December as well.

Weather in the mountains is very difficult to predict. At night it is generally cold and the days are generally warm. The temperature could be as high as 25 degree Celsius to -20 degree Celsius low.

During trek guesthouse does not facilitate with heater or air conditioner, But they have facility of hitting the dinning area by providing kerosene or metal heater. USD 2 to USD 5 per person would be applicable to use this service and this is payable directly to the guesthouse.

Depending on nature of travel we provide different vehicle service. We provide tourist vehicles for sightseeing, city tours and airport pickups-drops. We book flight ticket through Tara Air, Goma Air and Nepal Airlines air for the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and vice versa.

There are landline telephone in some village along the trekking routes from which you can contact with your family and friends. Some place there is also internet access which you can use by paying some charges. Also you can buy sim card for your cell phone by giving your xerox copy of your passport and PP size photo.

In the cities, off course yes but once you are outside of the cities, all you have to pay in cash. Also you have exchange the currency in Nepali rupees before you go outside the cities.

Generally, in Kathmandu you can allocate USD 15-20 for lunch and dinner. During trekking USD 10 to 15 per person a day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, biscuits & pay for the hot shower and a few drinks.

Yes, charging facilities will be available in every guesthouse & lodges but sometime there maybe load shedding problem so its better to bring power bank or spare batteries.

There are many restaurant available in Kathmandu city where you can find any delight of your choice. But in trekking route most teahouses. On the menu you may find noodles soup, steam mo:mo, daal bhat, green salad, finger chips, eggs, potatoes, fresh vegetables. You can get tea, coffee,h ot lemon and hot chocolate. Every day breakfast, lunch, dinner will be at a lodge.

Along your trek we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation and food. Please consult with your guide and he will update our office in Kathmandu and we can make the arrangement accordingly. If you are in private or solo trip it would be possible as your itinerary is very flexible where as if you were in group then this group the option would be limited so please make sure you discuss with your group and guide and your guide will update us accordingly.

Lodges mostly serve the vegetarian meals so there is no problem at all for vegetarian. Also we always recommend our clients to eat vegetarian meals to avoid food poisoning. Non-veg meals at the high altitude is not safe for the stomach.

Hot water in bucket will be provided for shower and you have to pay for hot water.

Yes, they have received training from NATHM (Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management). They have also received high altitude first aid training from KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project).

Actually tipping is not compulsory, but small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters.The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvment with your guide.

Cancellation notice is required, minimum of 25 days prior to trip departure. If the reason is valid the trip shall then be termed as cancelled and the cancellation charge of 30% of the trip amount would be deducted from the advance paid.
