Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking

Ghorepani Poonhill trekking is a short and well comfortable trekking destination in Annapurna region. This trek is suitable for those trekkers who do not have much more time but desire to observe the beauty of snowy peaks. Himalayan Excursion Nepal organize this trek in a week from Kathmandu.

 

The trek starts from Nayapul, one-hour drive north of the Pokhara. This trail offers dissimilar vistas of Himalayas crosses passing through many villages of different ethnic communities having different culture and lifestyle. The view point on Poonhill 3210 m offers the best panoramic views of sunrise and sunset with stunning mountains. The trek presents Annapurna I 8091 m, Annapurna III, Annapurna south 7219 m, Dhaulagiri 8167 m, Machhapuchre 6997 m and Nilgiri 6820 m views along the route with blooming rhododendron and bamboo forest during the Ghorepani Poonhill trek. The trekking itinerary can be lengthened and shortened according to the holiday and time schedule of guest.

Itinerary

Our company representative will welcome you at airport. He will be displaying your name outside the airport terminal and transfer to respective hotel with private tourist vehicle. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

After breakfast your sightseeing trip will start. You will have a private vehicle and professional English speaking tour guide. We will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square (world heritage site), Swyambhunath stupa-The monkey temple (world heritage site), Pashupatinath temple (world heritage site) and Boudhanath. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

After early morning breakfast you will have 25 minutes scenic flight to reach Pokhara or you will board a tourist bus departing for Pokhara before 7 am. This is an interesting drive along the scenic Prithvi Highway. The bus makes two stops, once is for breakfast and once for lunch. After a 5-6 hours drive you will arrive in Pokhara. After a rest at hotel, you can walk around the Phewa lake, boating and explore the surrounding areas. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Today, after early morning breakfast we will have couple of hours drive from Pokhara along the twisted narrow highway reached Nayapul. On arriving at Nayapul our trek kicks off instantly. After walking for half an hour we get to Birethanti (1,030 m), ACAP check post where two rivers Modi & Bhurungdi confluence. Then head up the main trail to Thikhedhunga. On the way, we cross beautiful village’s sudame, Ramghai, and Hile then reach to Tikhedhunaga. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

After the breakfast, we start our trek with steep climb along the never-ending series of stony staircases to Ulleri. The walk on the stone paved steps is a daring adventure early in the morning. The whole trail leads you through beautiful villages with the amazing landscape, rhododendron and oak forest to Ghorepani where your efforts will be rewarded with magnificent close up views of the Himalayas. Today is a special day of our trek, early morning we will hike to Poonhill, which is an hour climb from village Ghorepani. Poonhill is one of the most popular hill station in the region that offers wide range of Panorama views Himalayas including Manaslu, Annapurna & Dhaulagiri. After having great time at Poonhill, return to Ghorepani for breakfast and then continue our trek to Tadapani. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

After breakfast we begin our trek. Trek start along the trail through beautiful Rhododendron forest, enjoy early morning forest walk with fresh air & incredible sound of different birds. As you arrive to Bhaisi kharka the trail begins to slide down and then you arrive to Sitkyu. A final one hour descending climb would bring you to the beautiful Gurung village called Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a popular village which practices authentic Gurung culture & tradition. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, Our trek start walk along the downhill steep stony staircases to Kimche. From Kimche the pleasant downhill jungle would bring us to Nayapul. From nayapul we drive for 1 hour and back to Pokhara. We can enjoy our rest day at lakeshore restaurant with live music in lakeside. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Today, after early morning breakfast you will transfer to airport or drive to Kathmandu. Witnessing the rural landscapes dominated by lush vegetation and rushing rivers is full of fun throughout the drive. The rural culture is also a fascinating reward for the ride; around 200 kilometers of drive that takes around 5-6 hours will finally bring you to Kathmandu. On your arrival you will transferred to your related hotel. Overnight at hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Our company representative will transfer you to the airport for your final departure in our private tourist vehicle.

To condition yourself for the trek, some physical fitness programs such as walking, running, swimming and hiking are recommended before you embark on your journey. Best season for trekking is usually March-April and October-November but Ghorepani Poonhill trek can be done in February, June, April, May and December as well.

Weather in the mountains is very difficult to predict. At night it is generally cold and the days are generally warm. The temperature could be as high as 30 degree Celsius to minus 15 degree Celsius low.

Depending on nature of travel we provide different vehicle service. We provide tourist vehicles for sightseeing, city tours and airport pickups-drops. We provide tourist bus transfer service from Kathmandu-Pokhara-Kathmandu. We book flight ticket through Simrik air, Buddha Air, Yeti air for the flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and vice versa.

There are landline telephone in some village along the trekking routes from which you can contact with your family and friends. Some place there is also internet access which you can use by paying some charges. Also you can buy sim card for your cell phone by giving your Xerox copy of your passport and PP size photo.

In the cities, off course yes but once you are outside of the cities, all you have to pay in cash. Also you have exchange the currency in Nepali rupees before you go outside the cities.

Yes, charging facilities will be available in every guesthouse & lodges but sometime there maybe load shedding problem so it’s better to bring power bank or spare batteries.

There are many restaurants available in Kathmandu and Pokhara city where you can find any delight of your choice. But in trekking route most of the teahouses menu you may find noodles soup, steam mo:mo, daal bhat, green salad, finger chips, eggs, potatoes, fresh vegetables. You can get tea, coffee, hot lemon, hot chocolate. Every day breakfast, lunch, dinner will be at a lodge.

Lodges mostly serve the vegetarian meals so there is no problem at all for vegetarian. Also we always recommend our clients to eat vegetarian meals to avoid food poisoning. Non-veg meals at the high altitude are not safe for the stomach.

Hot water in bucket will be provided for shower and you have to pay for hot water.

Yes, they have received training from NATHM (Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management).They has also received high altitude first aid training from KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project).

Actually tipping is not compulsory, but small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters. The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvement with your guide.
