Tiji is annual three days festival celebrated in Lo Manthang in front of Choedhe monastery where monks perform ritual dances. Tiji falls in the end of May every year; festival is about deity Dorje Jono and his demon father, Dorje Jono who battle against his demon father to save the Kingdom of upper Mustang from destruction. Upper Mustang is restricted area in Nepal therefore every foreigner need special permit to enter. You will spend your 2 nights in capital city Kathmandu for issuing special permits. While staying at Kathmandu you will enjoy exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites Basantapur Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, Monkey temple and Pashupatinath Temple.

Itinerary

Our company representative will meet you at Tribhuwan International airport upon your arrival and transfer you to pre-booked hotel. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Today, after breakfast you will have full day sightseeing of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu valley including Basantapur Durbar Square, Monkey Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath temple. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Today, after breakfast 25 minutes scenic flight to Pokhara. After short refreshment at hotel you will enjoy boating at Phewa Lake and visit Tal Barahi Temple. Enjoy evening walk and delicious dinner at lake side. Overnight at hotel with bed & breakfast basis. 

Today, early morning 15 minutes scenic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, after having breakfast in Jomsom we will start our trek to Kagbeni 3-4 hours enjoy hiking. Evening time explore Kagbeni village and ancient Buddhist monastery. Overnight at guesthouse in Kagbeni with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Early morning breakfast in Kagbeni and start trek to Tsaile (5-6 hours). Our trekking trail pass through Tangbe village (3060 m), Tetang village (3040 m), Chhuksang village (2980 m). We will enjoy our lunch at Chhuksang village. Overnight at guesthouse in Tsaile with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, after breakfast our trek continues along steep, treeless & dry terrain, Climb above Samar village and descend into a huge gorge and go into another valley along the surrounding of junipers trees, crossing a cool streams and climbs up to a ridge at 3800 m. We climb to Taklam La Pass (3,624 m) through plateaus and narrow stretches with views of Damodar Danda, Yakawa Kang and Tilicho Peak. Finally our trail drops steeply to the whitewashed building of Ghiling village. Overnight at Guesthouse in Ghiling with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

After early morning breakfast we start our trek to Dhakmar. While hiking enjoy views of Himalayan range and explore many ancient Buddhist monastery. Overnight at Guesthouse in Dhakmar with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

After breakfast we start our trek to reach our final destination Lo-Manthang. Our trail pass through beautiful village and further ascends  gently to the 3,850 meters windy pass of Lo, from where you can enjoy stunning views of walled city Lo-Manthang. Overnight at guesthouse in Lo-Manthang with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis. 

Today, after breakfast explore Lo-Manthang village and after lunch enjoy rituals dance performance by monks at first day of Tiji Festival. Overnight at guesthouse in Lo-Manthang with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis. 

Today, after breakfast visit Namgyal Gompa, Choedhe Gompa and then on to Tingkhar. After lunch enjoy second day of Tiji Festival. Evening time visit local people and know about their unique culture and tradition. Overnight at Guesthouse with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, after early breakfast you will trek to ancient Chhosar Cave (44 living rooms) and visit different old Buddhist monasteries, after short visit to Chhosar cave trek back to Lo-Manthang and enjoy third and final  day of Tiji Festival. Overnight at Guesthouse in Lo-Manthang with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, after early breakfast you will trek back to Dhakmar. Our trails will be different than the previous. We will trek Dhakmar via Gyakar village where lies more than 1200 years old Ghar Gompa, the Gompa is famous for its rock paintings. People belief that if anybody who makes wish at the Ghar Gompa, their wish is fulfilled. Overnight at Guesthouse in Dhakmar with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, we trek back to Ghiling. Normally day time there is dusty wind so we suggest to explore villages and hike at morning and evening time. Overnight at Guesthouse in Ghiling with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis. 

Today, we trek to Chhuksang village. During journey you will enjoy awesome landscapes and majestic Himalayan views. We will visit salt mine at Chhuksang. Overnight at Guesthouse in Chhuksang with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, we start our trek to Muktinath, holy temple of Hindus where daily so many Nepali as well as Indian pilgrimage come to show their devotion to Hindu Gods. From Muktinath you will enjoy stunning views of Himalaya Parbat. Overnight at Guesthouse in Muktinath with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, we walk through the bank of Kaligandaki River. The trail is flat down which makes us easy for hiking, enjoy beautiful landscapes and incredible view of Mount Dhaulagiri and Mount Nilgiri. After 5 to 6 hours long walk we will reach Jomsom airport. Overnight at Guesthouse in Jomsom with Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner basis.

Today, early morning scenic flight to Pokhara and day time flies to Kathmandu. Evening time enjoy farewell dinner with Nepali cultural dance program. Overnight at Hotel with Bed & Breakfast basis.

Yes, our company representative will be there to greet you. He will be displaying your name outside the airport terminal. You will be transferred to your hotel by our private vehicle.

Upper Mustang Tiji Festival trek is suitable for any kind of person who is moderately fit, no previous experience is required. To condition yourself for the trek, some physical fitness programs such as walking, running, swimming and hiking are recommended before you embark on your journey. Any person suffering from a pre-existing medical condition or diseases must seek medical advice before considering any trek.

Best season for trekking is usually March-April and October-November but Upper Mustang trek can be done in February, June, April, May and December as well.

Weather in the mountains is very difficult to predict. At night it is generally cold and the days are generally warm. The temperature could be as high as 25 degree Celsius to -10 degree Celsius low.

During trek guesthouse does not facilitate with heater or air conditioner, but they have facility of hitting the dining area by providing kerosene or metal heater, USD 2 to USD 5 per person would be applicable to use this service and this is payable directly to the guesthouse.

Depending on nature of travel we provide different vehicle service. We provide tourist vehicles for sightseeing, city tours and airport pickups-drops. We provide tourist bus transfer service from Kathmandu-Pokhara-Kathmandu or flight ticket through Simrik air, Buddha air, Yeti air for the flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and vice versa. We provide flight service Pokhara-Jomsom-Pokhara or by 4WD Jeep.

There are landline telephone in some villages along the trekking routes from which you can contact with your family & friends. Some place there is also internet access which you can use by paying some charges. Also you can buy sim card for your cell phone by giving your Xerox copy of your passport and PP size photo.

In the cities, off course yes but once you are outside of the cities, all you have to pay in cash. Also you have exchange the currency in Nepali rupees before you go outside the cities.

Generally, in Kathmandu & Pokhara you can allocate USd 15 to 20 for lunch & dinner. During trekking USD 10 to 15 per person a day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, biscuits, pay for the hot shower and a few drinks.

Yes, charging facilities will be available in every guesthouse & lodges but sometimes there maybe load shedding problem so it’s better to bring power bank or some spare batteries.

There are many restaurants available in Kathmandu & Pokhara city where you can find any delight of your choice. But in trekking route most tea houses. On the menu you may find noodles soup, steam mo:mo, daal bhat, green salad, finger chips, eggs, potatoes, fresh vegetables. You can get coffee, tea, hot lemon, hot chocolate. Every day breakfast, lunch, dinner will be at a lodge.

Along your trek we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation and food. Please consult with your guide and he will update to our office in Kathmandu and we can make necessary arrangements accordingly. If you are in private or solo trip it would be possible as your itinerary is very flexible where as if you were in group then this group the option would be limited so please make sure you discuss with your group and guide and your guide will update us accordingly. 

Lodges mostly serve the vegetarian meals so there is no problem at all for vegetarian. Also we always recommend our clients to eat vegetarian meals to avoid food poisoning. Non-veg meals at the high altitude are not safe for the stomach.

Hot water in bucket will be provided for shower and you have to pay for hot water.

Off course yes, they have received training from NATHM (Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management). They has also received high altitude first aid training from KEEP ( Kathmandu Environmental Educational Project).

Actually tipping is not compulsory, but small gesture of thanks to your guides and local porters. The level of the tip should reflect the level of satisfaction from and personal involvement with your guide.
